Common questions about hiring vehicles from Bourne 2 Hire

Yes. If you want to secure the booking, then payment is required to guarantee your vehicle is secure. The minimum is 1 day's hire cost or you can pay in full. If you only pay the minimum 1 day's hire payment, then you have to pay the remaining balance upon collection.
Yes. But only if the specific van you would like is available.

1. Full UK driving licence (this DOES NOT count as proof of address).

Note: The old paper licence is still valid, so you can bring this, but you will need to bring a photo id. (e.g. passport).


2. 2 x proof of address (We can accept original paper or PDF versions of these documents only. NO Pictures or Screenshots. You can send PDFs to info@bourne2hire.com. These must be sent the day before collection only).


Note: All documents must be dated within the last three months. Acceptable documents are:

  1. Electricity (bill/statement)
  2. Water (bill/statement)
  3. Gas (bill/statement)
  4. Broadband/Landline
  5. Council tax
  6. TV licence
  7. Bank Statement

3. License check code (this is case sensitive, so if writing it down you must make sure it is exact). You can obtain it from the official DVLA driving record service.

Note: If you prefer, you can bring your National Insurance number and we can do the driving licence check on the gov website when you come.

You must be between 21 and 75 and have held your driving license for at least 2 years. You must be 25 or over to drive vehicles over 7.5 tons. Minibuses require you to be 25 or over. The maximum age is 75.

If you return the van late, you will have to pay a late fee, but if you are going to be late, please contact the office and we will discuss it further.

We don't offer collision damage waivers, but you can get Van excess insurance from van hire excess insurance or Car excess insurance from car hire excess insurance.

Yes. You are allowed a maximum of 6 minor offense points (i.e. sp30, sp40). If you have other convictions like DR10, IN10, MS90, you must notify us immediately.
The hire is up to 24 hours from the time of the booking.
The fuel level will be checked and noted before you leave. We ask that you return the vehicle with the same fuel level.
All our vans are covered by RAC 24-hour breakdown cover. Details will be found on the rental agreement.
Yes. We can provide European cover at an additional cost. The booking must be made in advance to obtain a green card from the insurance company.
The hirer is responsible for any tickets accrued during the hire, and a £20 admin charge will be applied. Your details will be passed to the authorities for any inquiries.
If you wish to cancel your booking, please do so within 72 hours of your rental to receive a full refund. If you cancel after 72 hours, you will lose your reservation payment.
